I hope the season is bringing you much merriment and joy as you spend time with family and friends. Wrapping up a year always brings a sense of gratitude for all that we’ve been given, all that we have, all that lies ahead. I hope you are taking time to feel this sentiment as you go about the business that comes this time of year.
I love being in the business of capturing the moments that are like time capsules for you to remember your families, children, or yourself at this time in life for years to come. This year I spent a bit of time typing out and putting together a book about my Grandfather and his life story. It was so wonderful to look through old images of his childhood, thinking about what his eighty years has held, and the value of the images that captured bits of it along the way.
So take a few minutes this season and look through either tangible photo albums, Facebook albums, or other sources of images, and think back on the year mindful of all that you’re thankful for, and all that has changed. As C.S. Lewis said, “Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back everything is different?” Remember the impermanence of it all as you remember the past, engage with the present, and look forward to the new year.
With that, I wish you the merriest of Christmases.
